At around 10:00PM we were told that if Dad’s bloodwork came back satisfactory They would remove the ventilator. Sometime around 10:15 tonight they removed the ventilator. Hooray! Vent removal is a big step toward recovery, and Dad is much happier and more comfortable without it. He does have a NG tube which makes talking uncomfortable

It is 9pm and he is still really really out of it but definitely responsive. The ventilator is still in but he can breathe on his own when they turn it off. They will take it out when he is more awake and alert but right now he seems to be really content resting with
Phew. The transplant is complete and was a huge success! He had a massive liver which contributed to how much time it took to get his old liver out of his body. He is all stitched up and they will be bringing him to ICU within the half hour and we will be able to

The head of transplant just came out and described the liver as “beautiful,” and the surgery should be done in an hour. He said things are going perfectly. Wohoo!
As of now the new liver is almost entirely in place. After it’s in place they spend the following hours checking profusion (sp?), checking to make sure everything is working. According to the team, he’s doing great!
Good Morning. Not much new. They made the incision around 3:45 and we were just told his liver hasn’t actually been removed yet but will be soon. According to nurse Alvin this is normal, it just takes awhile to dig through the cavity and get to the liver. He is doing really well though so
